2010 was the beginning of a new industrial relations era in Australia and also the year NDL People was established.

This was by no means a coincidence as, after a successful corporate career in Human Resources from 1983 - 2010, Cath Ranyard, founder of NDL People, saw the future for HR and Payroll for small business.


Cath identified that small businesses were going to be held more and more accountable for their actions around people management and pay. This vision has proved true with the introduction of Modern Awards across Australia and the introduction of real time reporting of payroll data to the ATO via single touch payroll, along with Super Stream providing electronic lodgement of super.  


Employees of small businesses are now better informed with easy access to their workplace rights just a few clicks away. Small businesses are subject to audits and visits with the ever-growing presence of the Fair Work Ombudsman across all industries and workplaces.


To maintain compliance with Employment Laws and Modern Awards small business owners must have not only a working knowledge of what laws and awards apply to their business, but also how to navigate them to their best commercial advantage.
